PLANTS AND ANIMALS OF OʻAHU
We have worked with numerous plants this summer! Some are good, some are bad, and some are just darned ugly. When posting pictures of plants and animals, be sure and include the following:
Common Name:
Hawaiian Name:
Scientific Name: (Genus species)
Native or introduced
If native, is it endemic (only found in HI) or indigenous (native to HI and found elsewhere)
If introduced, is it Polynesian Introduced, alien, and/or invasive (remember, just because a plant or animal is introduced does NOT make it invasive...itʻs just an alien :)
Site and/or location we saw/worked with this plant/animal:
Any other information you believe important (cultural significant; medicinal use - Laʻau lapaʻau; why invasive; impact on environment/other organisms, etc.
